You can qualify for coverage by having one of the following life events.

Here are some important dates and FAQ’s to help.

February 15 – October 31, 2016 – Special Enrollment Period where you have to have a life event to qualify for coverage through the marketplace.

November 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017 – Open Enrollment Period where you can apply for coverage, change coverage or your policy will automatically renew with the carrier you have.  If you auto renew your policy, the policy can change in benefits and monthly premium, so remember to check those details during this time.

December 15, 2016 – All application are due for coverage to start January 1, 2017.  Whether you are starting a new policy, or changing your current plan, this is the deadline for January 1.  If you make a change or sign up after this day, coverage would start at a later date.

Coverage application timeline:

November 1 and December 15, coverage will start on January 1, 2017.

December 16, 2016 – January 15, 2017, coverage starts on February 1, 2017.

January 16 – January 31, 2017, coverage starts on March 1, 2017.
